I just don’t understand it…Shakespeare, Browning, The Bible?
We can read a passage, but not get the meaning of it. Shakespeare wrote in a language that seems foreign to us. Many plays or movies are based on his works, but someone takes that work and makes it more understandable in language we understand.
From Henry IV, Part I,V, i, 28 comes this line: Rebellion lay in his way, and he found it. I met Bob Hostetler who wrote THE BARD AND THE BIBLE-A Shakespeare Devotional. I found that note and information on April 25th, and he clarified it for me in words I understood.
It took someone to come alongside and explain it to me.
Acts 8:26-40 tells a story about Philip being sent by an Angel to meet up with an Ethiopian eunuch who is reading a passage from Isaiah 53:7-8.
Philip says Do you understand what you are reading? The man says How can I, unless someone guides me?
Sometimes it takes a teacher/friend to help us understand the very simple things in life. I spend time studying because I want to learn something new and interesting. And I just might stumble on something of value to my understanding! THE WAY TO WISDOM!
