Sometimes when we are on our Journey, we come to a place where we need to make a decision as to which way to go; decide if we will go to the left or the right? Sometimes we have to go the way that a path leads and other times we go through a wooded area and there is no path, but the one we clear as we go.
Have you ever come into a situation where a decision had to be made about two choices, one in one direction and the other in a different or opposite direction. Maybe a choice is very clear and it is easy to make the choice. Other times, we are hindered in our choice, and we have to spend time agonizing over which direction we will take.
THE WAY of our Journey can be like that. We come to a place in and road and there is a junction…maybe one direction goes to the right and the other direction off to the left, and maybe not so obvious. Maybe there are a lot of hindrances if we go in that direction.
It helps to have someone on your Journey who understands us and knows what would be the best path to go. For many of us, we have to make those decisions without the help of another person. It is so much easier when we have someone, and we can sit and talk about it, and help each other figure out all the “pros or cons” of a particular direction.
Some religious leaders came to talk with Jesus one day, and they said to Him, “Teacher we know that You are truthful, ….and You teach THE WAY of God in Truth.” Mark 12:14
There rose up a group of people called “THE WAY” in those days. It is a group found in Acts 9:2; 19:9, 23; 22:4; 24:14, 22; 18:25-26. What seems to characterize this group is that they were Journeying together, encouraging one another along THE WAY by being focused on Jesus, who said in John 14:6 “I am THE WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE,….”
These people had established for themselves, as a group, to “follow Jesus.” This would help establish in each of their lives, guidance upon the Journey that they were walking, and encouraging one-another in following along.
